Fort Yates is the tribal headquarters of the Standing Rock Great Sioux Tribe, whose reservation encompasses it. The Circle of Life KOLA office opened its doors in 2012 and is located in Fort Yates, North Dakota. The KOLA office is servicing the people of The Standing Rock Lakota/Dakota Great Sioux Nations in North Dakota and also part of South Dakota. Before Circle of Life came to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, tribal members were unaware services like attendant care existed. With the help of Lorna and Kevin, they have been busy in the community “Honoring Those We Serve”. It’s a great honor and the office has been growing every day.

Hello, some of my hobbies include spending time with family and friends and helping teach our youth about respect for our Elders in our communities and how to prevent elderly abuse or neglect of our elders throughout Native Country.

I was attracted to COLHC because of the services we offer to our Elders with medical conditions and those that may need assistance in their daily living activities with PCAs that are very caring and understanding of the client’s level of care.

I have come to love working with our Elders and clients through these past couple of years and wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m very grateful for those that made this company a success, so that we may take time to care and support our Elders and our Native American communities.

Fort Yates is a rural area, 67 miles south of the Capital city of Bismark, ND. There are 8,217 Native American Dakota/Lakota Sioux on the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation that sits on both ND and SD Central Region, where the Bad Lands begin. Sitting Bull’s grave is located in Fort Yates, as is the Sitting Bull College.

Elders feel safer knowing that they have good in-home care services that are being provided daily. A client once said that if it wasn’t for Circle of Life she wouldn’t be able to enjoy being in her home that she worked for years to build. She was grateful for being able to be cared for in her own home without going to a care facility in the city, and she was happy Circle of Life cares for her well-being and that the PCA services are great.

PCA Coordinator

Hello, I am the PCA Coordinator at Circle Of Life KOLA Home Care in Fort Yates, ND. I started working for this company in 2011 as a Personal Care Assistant. In 2013 I was asked to work in the office and answer phones. As the years went by I took on more responsibilities. I have a background in home care. I was a Certified Nurse Assistant. I worked in a nursing home for three years. I also took LPN classes. I enjoy working for Circle of Life and “Honoring Those We Serve.”

I am the mother of seven daughters, one son, and grandma to 10. I live here in Fort Yates, ND, and I have lived here for 15 years. I plan on retiring with this company. With all these kids and grandkids, I might be here a little longer.
